It was a day of joy, gratitude, and renewed hope on Saturday January 24, 2026, as the ancient and peace-loving community of Odan Otun Itele gathered in large numbers to celebrate a historic milestone—the 100 days in office of the Baale of Odan Otun Itele, High Chief Babajide Abiola Durojaye—marked by the unveiling and commissioning of people-oriented developmental projects.
The colourful ceremony, held at the Palace of the Baale of Odan Otun Itele, drew royal fathers, traditional chiefs, community leaders, youth and women groups, traders, and invited guests from far and near, all united in celebration of a reign already defined by action, compassion, and visible impact.
Barely three months into office, High Chief Babajide Abiola Durojaye has etched his name into the hearts of his people as a visionary grassroots leader whose passion for service and inclusive development has translated into tangible achievements. His first 100 days have clearly demonstrated that purposeful leadership, when driven by sincerity and commitment, can deliver meaningful change within a short time.
The highlight of the event was the commissioning of a modern community borehole project, a critical intervention aimed at tackling the long-standing challenge of access to clean and potable water in Odan Otun Itele. As the borehole was officially unveiled, residents expressed profound gratitude, describing the project as a life-changing development that will improve public health, reduce daily hardship, and enhance the overall quality of life in the community.
In another remarkable show of people-centered governance, the Baale also carried out the empowerment of 40 traders with cash support, an initiative targeted at strengthening small-scale businesses and boosting the local economy. Beneficiaries, many of whom are petty traders and market women, lauded the Baale for his sensitivity to grassroots realities and his commitment to uplifting livelihoods at the community level.
The epoch-making event was conducted under the royal leadership and commissioning of His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Ademola Eletu Ashorota, the Onitele of Itele, whose presence added grandeur and royal significance to the occasion. In his remarks, the revered monarch commended the Baale for his humility, dedication, and development-driven approach, urging other community leaders to emulate his example. The monarch’s fatherly support further reinforced the synergy between tradition and modern development in Itele land.
Several goodwill messages poured in from chiefs, community stakeholders, youth leaders, and women representatives, all of whom praised High Chief Durojaye’s transparent leadership style and his resolve to prioritize the welfare of the people over empty promises. Speaker after speaker described the 100-day achievements as clear evidence of a reign anchored on service, unity, and progress.
Indeed, the atmosphere at the palace was overwhelming, filled with cultural displays, prayers, cheers, and heartfelt appreciation, as Odan Otun Itele reflected on what visionary leadership can achieve in just 100 days.
As the celebrations drew to a close, one message resonated loudly across the community: the reign of High Chief Babajide Abiola Durojaye has begun with purpose, progress, and promise. His early strides have laid a solid foundation for sustained development, shared prosperity, and a brighter future for the people of Odan Otun Itele.
