The attention of the Palace of Olofin Adimula Oodua of Ado-Odo kingdom has been drawn to a disclaimer issued from the Palace of the Onidiota of Idiota, Ado-Odo which seeks to declare the celebration of Orile-Idiota Day as illegal and unrecognized. This publication is misleading and does not represent the true position of authority within Ado-Odo Kingdom.
For the avoidance of doubt, Orile-Idiota under Chief Bankole Akeem and Idiota under Oba Kabiru Adeyinka Odewale both exist and operate under the jurisdiction and authority of the Olofin Adimula Oodua of Ado-Odo Kingdom, His Majesty Oba Olusola Idris Adebowale Lamidi-Osolo Otenibotemole II.
It is also important to state that prior to the elevation of the Baale of Idiota to a coronet status, Orile-Idiota had, and has continued to have, its own Baale, under whose leadership the community has been guided and administered. This historical and traditional reality cannot be erased or invalidated by any contrary claims.
Furthermore, the Olofin Adimula Oodua of Ado-Odo Kingdom has been duly informed of the Orile-Idiota Day celebration and has graciously granted his approval and royal consent for the event to hold. Consequently, any assertion that the celebration is illegal, unauthorized, or unrecognized is false and should be completely disregarded.
The general public is therefore advised to ignore the directives contained in the said disclaimer, as they do not reflect the position of the prescribed authority over Ado-Odo Kingdom. The Orile-Idiota Day celebration is legitimate and should proceed as planned.
We call on the people of Idiota and Orile-Idiota, as well as all invited guests and well-wishers, to remain calm, law-abiding, and peaceful. Let us continue to promote unity, harmony, and mutual respect within our communities. This celebration is cultural and communal in nature, intended to strengthen brotherhood and togetherness, not to create division or tension.
The people of Orile-Idiota are therefore good to go with their celebration, and all concerned parties are encouraged to embrace peace, maturity, and understanding in the collective interest and progress of our land.
Signed,
Chief Olugbenga Akande
The Chief Press Secretary and Official Spokesperson to Olofin Adimula Oodua of Ado-Odo Kingdom, Awori Land & The Bóbarìn Agbenuso-Ònkòwe
