As Ogun State marks its golden jubilee, the celebration transcends ceremonies to become a moment of reflection, stock-taking, and forward thinking. Fifty years on, Ogun State stands proudly as Nigeria’s Gateway State—distinguished by industry, education, commerce, and cultural strength. Yet, this milestone also presents an opportunity to confront long-standing imbalances and to chart a more inclusive path of development across all constituencies.
It is within this historic context that the Larrybash Movement is set to host a Special Golden Jubilee Symposium tomorrow, Monday, 2nd February, focused on the future of the Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency. The symposium, themed “Setting a New Agenda for Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency,” is conceived as a purposeful platform for dialogue, policy direction, and people-centered development.
Beyond infrastructure and socio-economic growth, a critical issue to be discussed is the rotation of the Member, House of Representatives (MHR) seat within the constituency. For nearly two decades, the seat has remained within Ado-Igbesa axis, a reality that has shaped political representation over the years. As Ogun State celebrates 50 years of shared history, the symposium will strongly advance the principle of fairness, equity, and inclusion—making a compelling case that the time has come for Ota to present a candidate to represent the Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency. This call is not rooted in sentiment, but in balance, unity, and the collective strength of the constituency.
The symposium will feature a keynote address by Professor Nurudeen Olaleye, Rector of Lagos State Polytechnic. He is expected to provide scholarly and practical perspectives on development planning, education, innovation, and how strategic constituencies like Ado-Odo/Ota can better harness their demographic and economic advantages.
Providing leadership direction at the event is High Chief Olanrewaju Bashorun, whose vision through the Larrybash Movement continues to emphasize inclusive governance and grassroots empowerment. In his address, High Chief Bashorun is expected to underscore the importance of redefining representation, promoting rotational justice, and aligning constituency leadership with Ogun State’s next 50-year development trajectory.
As anticipation builds ahead of tomorrow’s gathering, stakeholders see the symposium as a defining moment—one that combines reflection with action. It is a call to rethink development priorities, strengthen unity across communities, and ensure that political representation reflects fairness and shared ownership.
At 50, Ogun State is not only celebrating its past achievements; it is consciously shaping its future. Tomorrow’s Larrybash Movement Golden Jubilee Symposium stands as a timely reminder that progress is strongest when every zone is carried along—and that for Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency, a new agenda, and a new turn, is both timely and just.
