As government intensifies efforts on the construction of the Otta–Idiroko Expressway and the ongoing rehabilitation of the Lagos–Otta–Abeokuta Expressway, traders who are yet to vacate road corridors have been strongly advised to relocate in order to ensure free vehicular movement and allow construction activities to proceed without obstruction.
Today, His Majesty, Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege, Ph.D (Lanlege Ekun II, Arole Iganmode, Olofin Apesin Olode), Olota of the Ancient and Paramount Ottaland, Awori Kingdom, alongside the Executive Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adewale Lawal, FCA, heads of security agencies within Ota and environs, key stakeholders, youth leaders, and other officials embarked on a sensitization and warning exercise.
The visit was aimed at notifying roadside traders of a major enforcement operation scheduled to commence tomorrow, 12th February 2026, to remove all illegal structures and trading activities along the roadways.
His Majesty emphasized that his presence during the warning exercise affirms the seriousness of the directive. Kabiyesi made it clear that he would not intervene or plead on behalf of anyone arrested for defying the relocation order, noting that roadside trading has significantly contributed to persistent traffic gridlock.
The delegation also inspected the ongoing bridge construction at Oju Ore, Otta, along the Otta–Idiroko Expressway, engaged engineers on site, urging them to ensure quality delivery that will stand the test of time. The construction company was further encouraged to urgently address areas requiring adjustment, particularly to ease the challenges faced by adjoining communities and road users.
