History was deliberately made as Ogun West’s finest minds gathered under the banner Ogun West Professionals for YAYI to send a clear, confident, and thunderous message across Ogun State: the time for Ogun West is now.
At the colourful and well-attended YAYI Media Chat 2026, professionals drawn from governance, academia, medicine, law, media, and the private sector unanimously adopted Olamilekan Adeola Solomon (YAYI) as their preferred and consensus candidate for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election. The event was not just another political gathering; it was a declaration of readiness, unity, and purpose by a zone long known for its contributions but often denied its due.
The atmosphere was charged with conviction as over 2,000 members of the group—spanning Nigeria and the diaspora—endorsed a collective resolve to pursue the Ogun West governorship ambition with internal unity and strategic discipline. This resolve was powerfully reinforced by a thought-provoking lecture delivered by the Senate Leader of the Federal Republic, Opeyemi Michael Bamidele, CON, titled “The Power of Internal Coherence in Securing External Support: A Roadmap to Achieving Ogun West Governorship Ambition in 2027.”
Senator Bamidele’s message was clear: political success is born first from unity within. He stressed that Ogun West’s strength lies in its ability to speak with one voice, rally around a credible candidate, and engage the wider Ogun electorate from a position of coherence and clarity.
In a further show of alignment with national leadership and stability, the gathering also unanimously endorsed Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for a second term, signaling that Ogun West’s aspiration is anchored on continuity, experience, and progressive governance.
Responding to the endorsement, Senator Olamilekan Adeola Solomon expressed heartfelt appreciation to the professionals for their confidence, describing the moment as both humbling and historic. He noted that the gathering was proof that the Ogun West project is no longer a whisper, but a loud, organized, and intellectually driven movement whose time has come. According to him, the decision of the professionals speaks volumes about his growing acceptance as a bridge-builder and a candidate capable of carrying the hopes of Ogun West and the aspirations of Ogun State at large.
The calibre of personalities within Ogun West Professionals for YAYI further underscored the seriousness of the movement. Members include Kunle Salako, Minister of State for Health and Social Services; Kayode Oladele; Jide Ojugbele, former House of Representatives member; Laolu Olabimtan, Commissioner for Budget and Planning; Akande Omoniyi Jagunmolu, Commissioner for Housing; Kayode Odunaro, Osorun of Isaga Orile; Dapo Oke; Ogo Akinleye of the Public Complaints Commission; and Yemisi Bamgbose, DG of the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON), among many other accomplished sons and daughters of Ogun West.
The endorsement gained further strength from goodwill messages delivered by respected leaders across Ogun State, including Lekan Mustapha from Ogun East, Yemi Oke, SAN, and Sanyaolu from Ogun Central—clear evidence that the Ogun West aspiration enjoys growing acceptance beyond regional lines.
Beyond speeches and symbolism, members of the professional group made significant personal contributions to ensure the success of the media chat, reflecting a movement driven not by rhetoric alone but by sacrifice and commitment.
As the curtains closed, one truth stood tall: the event spoke loudly of the rising momentum and broad acceptance of Senator Olamilekan Adeola Solomon as a leading governorship contender. For Ogun West, this was more than an endorsement—it was a bold statement of arrival. And for Ogun State, it signaled that a new chapter, driven by equity, competence, and unity, may be on the horizon.
