The Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, has once again demonstrated the timeless virtues of traditional leadership by successfully restoring peace and unity among political stakeholders in Yewa South.
In a remarkable display of wisdom, maturity, and fatherly leadership, the revered monarch brokered reconciliation between the incumbent member representing Yewa South in the Ogun State House of Assembly and Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Lateefat Bolanle Ajayi, and Hon. Bayo Orebiyi, an aspirant strongly supported by leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the local government.
The intervention, which took place during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting convened by the monarch in Ilaro, has been widely described as a victory for peace, unity, and the enduring values of the traditional institution.
Speaking at the meeting, Oba Olugbenle informed party leaders and stakeholders that following extensive consultations and appeals by respected elders within and outside Yewa South, Rt. Hon. Ajayi had graciously agreed to concede the ticket to Hon. Orebiyi in the interest of peace, harmony, and the collective progress of the party.
The atmosphere became emotional and inspiring as Rt. Hon. Ajayi openly apologized to party leaders and stakeholders before raising the hands of Hon. Orebiyi in a powerful show of unity and sportsmanship — a gesture that attracted loud applause and admiration from those present.
Political leaders at the gathering, including Hon. Muftau Ajibola, Senator Iyabo Anisulowo, Chief Mrs. Iyabo Apampa, and Engr. Yinka Akintomide, commended the peaceful resolution and praised both leaders for embracing reconciliation and political maturity. They also offered prayers for continued success, wisdom, and unity among all stakeholders in Yewa South.
In his remarks, Hon. Bayo Orebiyi expressed profound appreciation to Rt. Hon. Ajayi for her sacrifice, statesmanship, and large-heartedness. He equally thanked Oba Olugbenle and the elders for their timely intervention and commitment to preserving peace within the party.
Observers at the meeting noted that the development once again reinforces the crucial role traditional rulers continue to play in stabilizing society, promoting dialogue, and preventing political crises in their domains. Under the leadership of Oba Olugbenle, Yewaland has consistently witnessed efforts geared toward unity, development, and peaceful coexistence.
