The leadership of the Riders and Owners of Motorcycle Organization (ROMO) has called on its members across the state to remain united, law-abiding, and politically conscious as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The call was made during the organization’s general meeting held under the leadership of the State Chairman, Rasak Olusola Sotayo, popularly known as Solebo, where issues relating to the welfare of members, unity within the association, and civic responsibilities were extensively discussed.
Addressing the gathering, the chairman passionately encouraged riders to obtain their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs), describing voter participation as a crucial responsibility for every citizen. He noted that motorcycle riders, being an important part of society and the transport sector, must not remain silent spectators in determining the future direction of the country.
He urged members to actively participate in the democratic process and support candidates whom the association believes would continue to promote development and stability.
In his remarks, the chairman reaffirmed the organization’s support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu for another term as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He also declared support for Dapo Abiodun for the Senate, alongside Solomon Olamilekan Adeola and other consensus candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to him, continuity in leadership would further strengthen infrastructural development, economic growth, and policies capable of improving the transport sector and the welfare of commercial motorcycle operators.
Beyond politics, the meeting also focused on professionalism and discipline among members. The ROMO leadership charged riders to conduct themselves responsibly on the roads, obey traffic laws, and maintain cordial relationships with passengers and other road users.
The chairman particularly emphasized the need for members to protect the image and integrity of the organization as preparations gather momentum for the forthcoming ROMO Week celebration. He reminded riders that their behavior in public spaces would reflect the values and reputation of the association.
Members at the meeting reportedly welcomed the message with enthusiasm, pledging continued loyalty to the organization and commitment to peace, unity, and professionalism.
The gathering concluded with prayers for progress, peaceful coexistence, and sustained unity among members of the association and the nation at large.
