The political momentum surrounding the Yewa South State Constituency seat in the Ogun State House of Assembly gathered further pace on monday 11th of May as Otunba Bayo Orebiyi, the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), successfully participated in the party’s screening exercise held in Abeokuta.
The screening, which brought together aspirants from across the state seeking elective positions under the APC platform, was concluded peacefully and successfully amid commendations from party stakeholders and electoral officials.
Otunba Orebiyi, a former aide to Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, arrived at the venue alongside other aspirants, displaying confidence and optimism as the party continues its preparations toward the 2027 general elections.
Party faithful and supporters who accompanied him described the exercise as another significant milestone in his political journey and a strong indication of the party’s commitment to transparency, due process, and internal democracy.
Speaking shortly after the screening, Orebiyi expressed appreciation to the leadership of the APC for conducting what he described as a credible and orderly process. He reaffirmed his commitment to the ideals of the party and pledged continued dedication to the growth and development of Yewa South Constituency.
He also thanked party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters for the confidence reposed in him, promising to uphold the trust placed in his leadership aspiration.
Political observers believe Orebiyi’s participation in the screening exercise further strengthens his emergence as a formidable contender for the Ogun State House of Assembly seat, especially following his earlier adoption as the consensus candidate by party leaders and stakeholders in Yewa South.
The successful conclusion of the screening exercise is expected to pave the way for the next phase of the APC’s electoral process ahead of the highly anticipated 2027 polls.
