Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, representing Ogun West Senatorial District at the National Assembly, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State after securing a landslide victory in the party’s primary election.
Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, polled an overwhelming 304,055 votes to defeat his co-contender, Abayomi Hunye, who recorded no vote in the exercise conducted across the state.
The Chairman of the APC Governorship Primary Election Committee for Ogun State, Mr. Wale Ohu, officially declared the result at the party secretariat in Abeokuta on Thursday following the collation of votes from the 20 local government areas of the state.
According to figures released by the committee, the party had 343,292 registered voters for the primary election, while 305,287 delegates and members were accredited to participate in the exercise.
Returning officers from the various local government areas had earlier presented the results before the final announcement confirming Adeola as the party’s flag bearer ahead of the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.
The outcome further reinforces Adeola’s growing political influence within the APC structure in Ogun State, especially across the Ogun West axis where he enjoys significant grassroots support.
