It is with profound sadness that I received the news of the passing of Elder Chief Michael Adelani Ogundimu (Baba Yayi), the revered patriarch of the Onibata Family of Ago Isaga Compound, Pahayi-Yewa, Ilaro.
I extend my heartfelt condolences to our leader, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI), FCA, CON, the entire Onibata Family, the good people of Pahayi-Yewa, and all those mourning the departure of this exceptional elder statesman.
Baba Yayi was a man whose life exemplified honour, integrity, humility, and unwavering dedication to the service of humanity. As the Akinrogun of Pahayi-Yewa and a former Councillor representing Ilaro Ward 1, he devoted himself to promoting peace, justice, unity, and the development of his community. His wise leadership and exemplary character earned him the admiration and respect of generations.
Beyond his traditional and political contributions, Baba Yayi was a father figure, a custodian of family heritage, and a beacon of wisdom whose counsel positively influenced many lives. His steadfast guidance and encouragement helped shape leaders, including our own Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI), whose commitment to selfless service reflects the enduring values Baba Yayi upheld throughout his lifetime.
Although his passing has created a great void, we are comforted by the remarkable legacy he leaves behind—a legacy of honour, sacrifice, compassion, and community service that will continue to inspire future generations.
As we mourn this painful loss, I pray that Almighty God grants Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI), the entire Onibata Family, the people of Pahayi-Yewa, and all loved ones the strength, comfort, and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
May Almighty God forgive his shortcomings, grant him eternal rest, and reward his years of faithful service with Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
Adieu, Baba Yayi.
Your life was a blessing to many, your memory will remain cherished, and your legacy of service and integrity will continue to inspire generations.
Hon. Okikiola Abayomi Olundegun
