As the 2027 general elections draw near, the message from the people of Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency is becoming louder, clearer, and impossible to ignore: this is the time for justice, fairness, and balance—and that justice begins with Ipokia Zone C.
For too long, the question of representation in the constituency has been tilted in one direction. Since the return to democratic rule in 1999, Yewa South Local Government has overwhelmingly dominated the House of Representatives seat, producing lawmakers on five different occasions, while Ipokia Local Government has been limited to just two terms. This imbalance is not just political—it is a question of fairness, inclusion, and respect for all sections of the constituency.
The facts are undeniable. From 1999 to 2003, Hon. Kamoru Oduntan from Ipokia Zone A held the mandate. Thereafter, Hon. Abiodun Isiaq Akinlade from Yewa South occupied the seat for an unprecedented three consecutive terms between 2003 and 2015. In 2015, Ipokia briefly reclaimed its place through Hon. Adekunle Abdulkabir Akinlade (Triple A) from Zone B, who served until 2019. But once again, the seat reverted to Yewa South with Hon. Kolawole Moboluwaduro Lawal (KLM) from 2019 to 2023, and today, Hon. Abiodun Isiaq Akinlade is back, now serving a fourth term.
This pattern tells a clear story—five terms for Yewa South, only two for Ipokia. This is not equity. This is not balance. And this must change.
Ipokia Local Government is structured into three zones—A, B, and C. Zones A and B have both had their opportunities to represent the constituency at the national level. Zone C remains the only zone that has never produced a member of the House of Representatives. This is the missing piece in the equation of fairness, and 2027 presents the moment to correct it.
This is why the call for Ipokia Zone C is no longer a suggestion—it is a demand rooted in justice.
At the forefront of this movement stands Hon. Fayomi Abraham Ajibola (Fayab)—a tested grassroots mobilizer, a unifier, and a leader whose connection with the people runs deep. As the founder of the Fayab for YAYI Movement, he has consistently demonstrated commitment, vision, and readiness to serve.
Fayab is not just another aspirant; he represents the voice, the hope, and the rightful turn of Ipokia Zone C. His leadership style is built on consultation, inclusion, and respect for the people. In recent weeks, he has moved across communities, engaging traditional rulers, political leaders, and stakeholders in both Ipokia and Yewa South—listening, consulting, and building consensus.
This is leadership that understands that power belongs to the people.
The struggle for Ipokia Zone C is bigger than politics. It is about correcting a long-standing imbalance, restoring dignity to every zone, and strengthening the unity of Yewa South and Ipokia. It is about ensuring that every part of the constituency feels seen, heard, and represented.
At the broader level, the aspiration of Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) reflects Ogun West’s collective push for inclusion at the highest level of state leadership. In the same spirit, Fayab’s candidacy represents Ipokia Zone C’s rightful place at the federal level.
As 2027 approaches, the choice before the people is clear: continue the old pattern or embrace fairness, equity, and a new direction. Stakeholders across the constituency are aligning with the latter, insisting that the House of Representatives ticket must be zoned to Ipokia Zone C.
Anything short of this would be a continuation of injustice.
In the same vein, Fayab and his supporters have reaffirmed their commitment to the second-term bid of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing that the Renewed Hope Agenda must be sustained. They maintain that continuity in leadership at the national level is essential for the completion of ongoing developmental programmes.
The call, therefore, is clear and urgent:
Support fairness. Support equity. Support Ipokia Zone C. Support Fayab.
2027 is not just another election—it is a defining moment for justice in Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency.
