Eminent Leaders, Governors, Traditional Rulers Celebrate Pa Reuben Fasoranti at 100

It was a gathering of honour, history, and deep reverence in Ondo State as prominent Nigerians from across the political, traditional, and socio-cultural spectrum converged to celebrate the 100th birthday anniversary of revered elder statesman and leader of the Afenifere socio-political group, Reuben Fasoranti.
Among the distinguished personalities present at the grand centenary celebration were the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alongside the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, traditional rulers, political associates, captains of industry, and admirers from different walks of life.
The atmosphere was filled with admiration and gratitude as speakers took turns to extol the virtues of Pa Fasoranti, describing him as a living symbol of integrity, courage, patriotism, and selfless service to humanity. Representing President Tinubu, Vice President Shettima paid glowing tribute to the nonagenarian statesman, noting that Pa Fasoranti’s life remains a guiding light for present and future generations. He described the Afenifere leader as one of the few remaining national voices whose influence has transcended politics, ethnicity, and generations.
Governor Dapo Abiodun, while honouring the elder statesman, praised Pa Fasoranti for his steadfast dedication to democratic values, justice, and national development. He noted that the centenarian has continued to inspire political leaders across the South-West and Nigeria through his principled leadership and uncommon wisdom.
Also speaking at the event, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa described the celebrant as a priceless treasure to the Yoruba race and the nation at large. As part of activities marking the historic occasion, the Ondo State Government commissioned a newly completed bridge named after Pa Fasoranti — a symbolic and lasting tribute to his immense contributions to society and his enduring legacy of service.
The bridge commissioning attracted widespread applause from guests and residents, many of whom described the honour as befitting for a man who has spent decades building bridges of peace, unity, and progressive ideals across the country.
Traditional rulers present at the occasion also showered encomiums on the elder statesman, acknowledging his role in preserving Yoruba values, defending democracy during difficult periods in Nigeria’s history, and mentoring generations of leaders.
