In a development widely celebrated across academic, traditional, and leadership circles, the Olota of Ota and Paramount Ruler of Aworiland, His Majesty, Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege, has been formally appointed into the prestigious Board of Trustees of Bells University of Technology.
The official announcement was conveyed on Wednesday, 20th May 2026, when the President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University, Chief Kola Jamodu, CFR, OFR, led a high-powered delegation to the royal palace of the revered monarch in Ota, Ogun State.
The delegation, which included the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Jeremiah Ojediran, described the appointment as a deliberate and well-considered decision inspired by the monarch’s exceptional record of service, scholarship, visionary leadership, and unwavering commitment to societal advancement.
Speaking during the visit, Chief Jamodu noted that the University considered the Olota eminently qualified for the exalted responsibility, owing to his remarkable contributions to academia, intellectual development, community building, and nation-building initiatives over the years.
According to him, the institution remains confident that the monarch’s inclusion on the Board would further deepen the University’s culture of excellence, strengthen institutional governance, and enrich its strategic vision as one of Nigeria’s foremost private universities.
Chief Jamodu further disclosed that the appointment received the blessing and approval of the University’s Promoter and former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, following extensive consultations and careful consideration.
The appointment is being viewed in many quarters as another shining testament to the growing national recognition of the Olota’s intellectual depth, progressive leadership style, and impactful reign since ascending the throne of his forefathers.
Before his ascension as monarch, Professor Obalanlege built an outstanding career in academia and administration, earning respect as a seasoned scholar, accomplished administrator, and mentor to many. Since becoming the Olota of Ota, he has continued to blend royal responsibility with intellectual engagement, championing peace, education, youth development, cultural preservation, and community progress across Aworiland and beyond.
In his response, the royal father expressed profound appreciation to the leadership of Bells University for the honour bestowed upon him, describing the appointment as both humbling and significant.
His Majesty assured the delegation of his readiness to serve diligently and contribute meaningfully toward the continued growth, sustainability, and global competitiveness of the institution.
