The Olota of the Ancient and Paramount Ottaland, Awori Kingdom, His Majesty, Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege, Ph.D. (Lanlege EKUN II, Arole Iganmode, Olofin Apesin Olode), has approved the appointment of Alhaji Saheed Ekundayo Ogungbayi as the new Olori Otun Otta.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued by the Principal Secretary to His Majesty, Prince Adeyemi Sulaimon Olusesi. According to the statement, the approval follows the nomination of Ogungbayi to fill the vacant traditional title in line with the customs and traditions of the Ancient Ottaland.
The statement recalled that the position of Olori Otun Otta became vacant following the passing of the former holder, Pa Durojaiye, on February 28, 2026.
His Majesty congratulated the people of Otun Otta, especially the Onikotun of Otun Otta, Oba Akeem Odunaro, for their peaceful disposition, cooperation, and exemplary coordination throughout the selection process.
The Olota expressed confidence that the appointment would further strengthen the traditional institution and foster unity and development within the community.
The monarch also prayed that Eledumare would continue to bless Ottaland and its people with enduring peace, unity, progress, and prosperity.
