The political landscape of Ogun State witnessed a significant development on Sunday as the All Progressives Congress (APC) formally intensified its preparations for the 2027 governorship election with the commissioning of the ultra-modern campaign headquarters of its governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI), FCA, in Abeokuta.
The imposing four-storey edifice, strategically located at Ibara, Abeokuta, was officially inaugurated amid fanfare and a massive gathering of party leaders, traditional rulers, government officials, political associates, religious leaders and supporters from across the state.
The event marked what political observers described as the official commencement of the APC’s full-scale governorship campaign, with the party demonstrating its readiness to consolidate on its political dominance in Ogun State ahead of the 2027 election.
Speaking during the inauguration, Senator Adeola expressed gratitude to God for the successful completion of the state-of-the-art campaign headquarters, revealing that construction of the project commenced from the foundation two years ago.
According to him, the facility is designed to serve as the central coordination point for campaign activities, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement and grassroots mobilisation across the 20 local government areas of Ogun State.
The commissioning ceremony was performed by the Chairman of the Ogun State chapter of the APC, Chief Yemisi Sanusi, with the support of prominent traditional rulers led by the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba (Dr.) Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, who is also the Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas, and the Olubara of Ibara, Oba Jacob Omolade, alongside several other royal fathers from different parts of the state.
The ceremony attracted an array of distinguished personalities, reflecting the broad support Senator Adeola continues to enjoy within the APC and beyond. Among those in attendance were the party’s deputy governorship candidate, Alhaja Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun, accompanied by her husband, Dr. Rasaq Balogun; former Deputy Governors of Ogun State, Senator Gbenga Kaka, Alhaja Salmot Badru and Prince Segun Adesegun.
Also present was the Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Pastor Tokunbo Talabi, who represented Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, while the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Daisi Elemide, joined former Speakers Rt. Hon. Tunji Egbetokun, Rt. Hon. Suraj Adekunbi and Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo at the event.
Other notable dignitaries included former Senators Iyabo Anisulowo, Akin Odunsi and Lekan Mustapha, as well as respected religious leaders such as Archbishop Michael Fape, Bishop of the Remo Diocese, Sheikh Sugar, and several serving and former federal and state government officials.
The atmosphere throughout the ceremony reflected confidence and optimism among APC faithful, many of whom described the commissioning of the campaign headquarters as a symbolic declaration that the race for the Ogun State Government House had officially begun.
Supporters repeatedly echoed the slogan, “We are not joking; we are fully prepared,” affirming the party’s determination to prosecute an issue-based campaign anchored on continuity, inclusive governance, economic transformation, infrastructure development, youth empowerment and improved welfare for the people of Ogun State.
Political analysts believe the commissioning of such an expansive campaign headquarters underscores the APC’s determination to run a highly organised campaign capable of reaching every ward and community across the state. They also noted that the project reflects Senator Adeola’s resolve to build a formidable grassroots structure ahead of the election.
Widely known as YAYI, Senator Adeola has consistently pledged to consolidate on the achievements of the Governor Dapo Abiodun administration while introducing policies aimed at accelerating industrial growth, expanding infrastructure, creating employment opportunities and strengthening the state’s economic competitiveness.
With the campaign headquarters now fully operational, the APC is expected to intensify consultations, stakeholder engagements and grassroots mobilisation as political activities gather momentum across Ogun State.
