It is with deep sadness that I received the news of the passing of Elder Chief Michael Adelani Ogundimu (Baba Yayi), the revered patriarch of the Onibata Family of Ago Isaga Compound, Pahayi-Yewa, Ilaro.
I extend my heartfelt condolences to our leader, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI), FCA, CON, the entire Onibata Family, the people of Pahayi-Yewa, and everyone mourning the departure of this distinguished elder and community icon.
Baba Yayi lived an exemplary life defined by honour, integrity, humility, and unwavering dedication to the service of his people. As the Akinrogun of Pahayi-Yewa and a former Councillor representing Ilaro Ward 1, he distinguished himself as a man of wisdom whose leadership, fairness, and commitment to community development earned him the admiration and respect of generations.
His remarkable legacy transcends titles and positions. He was a custodian of family history, a bridge between generations, and a father figure whose wise counsel and moral values shaped many lives. His steadfast support and encouragement played an important role in nurturing the leadership qualities that Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI) continues to demonstrate in public service today.
Although Baba Yayi’s passing has left a painful void, we are comforted by the enduring legacy of a life well lived. His contributions to family unity, community development, and the preservation of our cherished traditions will continue to inspire present and future generations.
As we mourn this irreplaceable loss, I pray that Almighty God grants Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI), the entire Onibata Family, the people of Pahayi-Yewa, and all loved ones the strength, comfort, and fortitude to bear this painful loss.
May Almighty God forgive his shortcomings, grant him eternal rest, and reward his lifetime of selfless service with Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
Adieu, Baba Yayi.
Your life was a blessing, your legacy is everlasting, and your memory will continue to inspire generations to come.
