For years, High Chief Olanrewaju Abayomi Bashorun, fondly called Larrybash, has demonstrated an unwavering devotion to the wellbeing of his people. His generosity becomes even more evident during the sacred month of Ramadan, when he consistently extends a compassionate hand to the Muslim faithful. Through daily distribution of meals for those observing the fast and the provision of accessible feeding centers across the community, he has transformed charity into a culture of shared humanity. His actions have not only fed bodies but strengthened bonds of unity and faith within the society.
In recognition of this enduring commitment and visible grassroots impact, the Sango Ota Muslim Community has openly endorsed High Chief Bashorun as their preferred candidate to represent Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. The declaration signals a strong vote of confidence in his leadership capacity and dedication to public service.
The endorsement came during the second edition of the Annual Ramadan Lecture convened by Alhaja Toibat Asabi Aderonke Bello, the respected Iyaloja of Sango Ota. Held at Sango Garage, the gathering drew an impressive cross-section of religious scholars, traditional institutions, political actors, and community stakeholders, all united in reflection and purposeful dialogue during the holy month.
Speaking on behalf of the Muslim community, Sheikh Tajudeen Shaffi Adisa Babalola, the Grand Chief Imam of Sango Ota, formally announced the collective support for Bashorun, who also holds the revered traditional title of Seriki of Ota. The Imam underscored the urgent need for credible, accessible, and community-driven representation, stressing that the forthcoming elections demand leaders with proven records of service and integrity.
The event was graced by an array of distinguished personalities, including revered monarchs, respected political figures, market leaders, and vibrant youth representatives. Their presence reflected a broad spectrum of societal endorsement, reinforcing the significance of the moment and the shared aspiration for progressive representation.
Beyond its spiritual essence, the Ramadan lecture evolved into a strategic platform for civic engagement and political consensus-building. It became a convergence point where faith, leadership, and community aspirations intersected, setting the tone for informed participation as the general elections approach.
