His Royal Majesty, Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, has once again demonstrated purposeful and people-oriented leadership with a decisive intervention aimed at strengthening security and restoring public confidence across Ilaro and its adjoining communities in Yewaland, Ogun State.
In a timely response to emerging security concerns and the circulation of alarming but unverified reports capable of creating fear among residents, the revered monarch convened a high-level strategic security meeting at the ancient palace in Ilaro. The meeting, which reflected Kabiesi’s unwavering commitment to peace and community development, brought together top security operatives and critical stakeholders to deliberate on proactive measures for the protection of lives, schools, and public institutions.
The Olu of Ilaro, who currently serves as Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas, has consistently earned commendation for his visionary leadership, community engagement, and advocacy for peace and development across Yewaland and Ogun State.
The security parley had in attendance senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Ogun State Security Network Agency popularly known as Amotekun Corps, as well as other intelligence and community-based security outfits. Although details of the deliberations were kept confidential for strategic reasons, sources confirmed that discussions centred on sustaining peace in Ilaro, enhancing security around educational institutions, and tackling the menace of fake news capable of triggering unnecessary panic among residents.
Shortly after the meeting, Kabiesi embarked on a confidence-building tour of the six public secondary schools in Ilaro, where he personally addressed students, teachers, and school administrators. The royal visit was widely applauded by residents and education stakeholders as a rare demonstration of responsive traditional leadership and genuine concern for the wellbeing of the younger generation.
During the visits, Oba Olugbenle reassured students and members of staff that robust security arrangements had already been put in place through collaboration between the Ogun State Government, security agencies, and the traditional institution to guarantee the safety of all schools within the town.
The respected monarch particularly appealed to parents and students of Emmanuel Commercial High School and Baptist High School, Ilaro, who reportedly stayed away from classes following misleading social media reports, to immediately return to school, insisting that there was no credible security threat within the community.
According to Kabiesi, visible security patrols would henceforth be intensified around schools during academic hours to further reassure parents and create a conducive atmosphere for learning. He also advised schools facing shortages of private security personnel to urgently engage competent and trusted security hands to strengthen internal safety mechanisms.
In another remarkable gesture, the Palace pledged continuous support towards the payment of stipends for security personnel engaged by affected schools, underscoring the monarch’s enduring commitment to educational advancement and community safety.
The royal entourage included notable security chiefs such as ACP Katibi Biliamin, Squadron Commander, Mopol 84 Ilaro; ACP Bamidele Job, Area Commander, Ilaro; ACC Kolawole Adedayo, Area Commander of the NSCDC; and SC Dalami Olusola, Coordinator of Amotekun Corps, Yewa South Command. Also present were traditional chiefs, community leaders, and critical stakeholders from across Yewaland.
Observers say the latest intervention further reinforces the reputation of Oba Olugbenle as a monarch deeply committed to peacebuilding, grassroots development, youth advancement, and the protection of public institutions. Over the years, the monarch has remained vocal on issues relating to security, communal harmony, education, and sustainable development in Ogun State and beyond.
Indeed, the swift action taken by the Olu of Ilaro has once again reassured residents that Ilaro and the entire Yewaland remain peaceful, secure, and conducive for learning, investment, and socio-economic growth. Through collective vigilance, responsible information sharing, and sustained collaboration between traditional institutions and security agencies, the ancient town continues to stand as a shining example of unity, order, and progressive leadership in Ogun State.
