As political consultations and preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum, the KTO Grassroots Movement, led by Hon. Kareem Tolani Oyindamola, has intensified its community engagement and mobilisation activities in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Ogun State APC governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The movement recently recorded another development in its ongoing consultations with the reported defection of prominent stakeholders, leaders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, pledging their support for the party and its candidates ahead of the next general elections.
The new entrants were formally received at the KTO Grassroots Movement Campaign Complex by Oyindamola, a Senior Special Assistant to the Ogun State Governor, alongside other APC leaders and stakeholders.
The development represents another phase of the movement’s efforts to expand its political network, engage community stakeholders and strengthen its organisational presence across Ado-Odo/Ota and other parts of Ogun State.
Speaking on their decision to join the APC, the new entrants reportedly identified Senator Adeola’s infrastructural interventions across Ogun West and other parts of the state as important considerations behind their political realignment.
Their declaration of support adds to the series of political consultations and stakeholder engagements taking place across Ogun State as political actors position themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.
Receiving the defectors, Oyindamola welcomed their decision and assured them that the APC remained open to individuals and groups willing to contribute to the party’s activities and development.
He emphasised the importance of fairness, inclusion and equal opportunities, assuring the new members that they would be integrated into the party’s existing structure and given a sense of belonging.
According to him, the priority is to build a united political family in which members can participate meaningfully, contribute their ideas and work collectively towards shared objectives.
Oyindamola also stressed the importance of recognising commitment and encouraging genuine participation in party affairs, noting that the integration of new members should strengthen cooperation among stakeholders rather than create divisions.
Grassroots Movement has continued to associate its mobilisation activities with support for President Tinubu’s political agenda and Senator Adeola’s governorship aspiration in Ogun State.
The movement’s approach centres on grassroots consultations, community engagement and the expansion of its network through interactions with political leaders, youth groups, community stakeholders and party members.
Previous media reports have documented KTO’s participation in political mobilisation activities in Ota, including the APC One Million March held in September 2026 as a political outreach involving Oyindamola and Adeola that attracted residents and community stakeholders in Ado-Odo/Ota.
These activities form part of the wider political mobilisation taking place across Ogun State as the APC organises its structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
At the state level, the APC leadership has also called for coordinated grassroots engagement across the state’s 20 local government areas, 236 wards and polling units, with a focus on communicating the party’s programmes and engaging voters on issues affecting their communities.
For Oyindamola and his associates, the reported arrival of new members presents an opportunity to broaden consultations and encourage cooperation among individuals from different political backgrounds.
The movement’s leadership maintains that a functional grassroots structure requires more than numerical expansion. It also depends on effective coordination, mutual respect, the integration of new members and sustained engagement with communities.
The latest consultation therefore places renewed emphasis on bringing different interests together under a common organisational framework while allowing members to participate in the party’s activities.
As preparations for the 2027 elections continue, the KTO Grassroots Movement is expected to sustain its engagement with political stakeholders and community groups in furtherance of its stated objectives.
The development also reflects the continuing movement of political actors across party lines in Ogun State, where consultations, alliances and organisational activities are shaping the political landscape ahead of the next general elections.
