It was a remarkable day of honour, appreciation, and royal splendour in the Ancient and Paramount Ottaland, as His Majesty, Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege, Ph.D. (Lanlege Ekun II, Arole Iganmode, Olofin Apesin Olode), the Olota of Ottaland, graciously gifted a brand-new Toyota Jeep to High Chief Rufiat Ojugbele-Mathew, the revered Iyalode of the kingdom.
The presentation took place on Thursday, 16th April 2026, shortly after the Olota-in-Council meeting at the historic Ipeti Royal Square within the Olota’s Palace, Enu Owa, Otta. The occasion was witnessed by distinguished chiefs and council members, who applauded Kabiyesi for the generous and thoughtful gesture.
In a beautiful twist of fate, the honour coincided with the Iyalode’s birthday, transforming the moment into a double celebration—one that seamlessly blended royal recognition with a personal milestone.
Visibly overwhelmed, the Iyalode expressed deep gratitude to His Majesty, offering heartfelt prayers for his continued strength, longevity, and a peaceful, prosperous reign. She also commended Kabiyesi for his consistent support and exceptional commitment to promoting the role and welfare of women in the kingdom since his ascension to the throne.
