In what political observers have described as a rare demonstration of humility, sincerity, and selfless leadership, Hon. Fayomi Ajibola Abraham popularly known as FAYAB has officially stepped down from the race for the Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency seat and thrown his full weight behind the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Dr. Oluwatoyin Emmanuel Taiwo.
The decision, which has continued to generate admiration across the constituency, was announced during FAYAB’s emotional 24-hour thank-you and reconciliation tour held between May 7 and 8, 2026, across the 22 wards and political zones of Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency.
Moving from community to community, FAYAB met with party faithful, traditional stakeholders, youths, women groups, community leaders, and supporters, appealing for unity, peace, and unwavering support for the party’s collective decision ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In an atmosphere filled with emotion, gratitude, and political maturity, the grassroots politician reaffirmed that leadership is not about personal ambition alone, but about sacrifice, loyalty, and protecting the interest of the people and the party.
According to him:
“My political ambition has never been a do-or-die affair. I respect my people, I respect our leaders, and above all, I respect party supremacy. Politics should be about service, unity, peace, and collective progress, not selfish interest.”
FAYAB disclosed that his decision followed the intervention, guidance, and reconciliation efforts of the incoming Governor of Ogun State, Distinguished Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, FCA, popularly known as YAYI, whose leadership he described as honorable and worthy of respect.
He noted that preserving the unity and stability of the APC ahead of 2027 remains more important than individual aspiration.
“This decision became necessary because of the sincere intervention and leadership of our incoming Governor, Distinguished Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, YAYI. As disciplined party members, we must continue to place unity, loyalty, and collective victory above personal ambition.”
The announcement sparked emotional reactions from supporters across the constituency, many of whom applauded FAYAB for choosing peace over division and party unity over personal interest.
Despite stepping down, FAYAB assured his supporters that the political structure, relationships, and movement built over the years across Yewa South and Ipokia would remain intact and stronger than ever.
Addressing thousands of loyalists who stood by him throughout his political journey, the visibly emotional politician expressed profound appreciation for their sacrifices, prayers, encouragement, and unwavering support.
“I sincerely appreciate my people, loyalists, and supporters throughout Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency for standing firmly with me throughout this journey. Your love and sacrifices will never be forgotten. This is not the end of our vision; it is only another phase in our collective political journey.”
In a heartfelt moment during the tour, FAYAB specially appreciated the people of IFONYINTEDO Ward, describing their loyalty and love as unforgettable.
Rolling out the names of wards and communities one after another, he thanked supporters from Ilaro, Iwoye, Idogo, Owode, Oke-Odan, Ipokia, Agosasa, Tube, Maun, Ajegunle, Idiroko, Ihunbo/Ilase and several others for believing in his vision and political movement.
Speaking in Yoruba with deep emotion, he declared:
“Ẹ ṣé púpọ̀. Mo mọ loore. Ere òṣèlú, mo gbàdúrà pé yóò délé-dóko.”
Political analysts have since described FAYAB’s action as a powerful example of responsible leadership, noting that his conduct has further elevated his political profile as a disciplined party man, grassroots mobilizer, and emerging statesman.
Across the constituency, supporters and stakeholders commended his maturity and sincerity, insisting that his decision has strengthened democratic values within the APC and deepened public respect for his political future.
Many believe that by willingly bowing to party supremacy and supporting the consensus arrangement, FAYAB has demonstrated that true leadership is measured not only by the positions one occupies, but by the sacrifices one makes for peace, unity, and the greater good of the people.
As the political atmosphere ahead of 2027 continues to gather momentum, the FAYAB for YAYI Ogun 2027 Movement remains one of the strongest grassroots political structures across Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency, with loyal supporters spread across all wards and communities.
For many observers, FAYAB’s decision will remain a defining moment — a powerful reminder that leadership built on loyalty, humility, love for the people, and respect for democratic principles never goes unnoticed.
